Carmel College embraces opportunities for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to participate in diverse programs which instill and acknowledge their culture. Embracing their cultural awareness and heritage allows for the holistic community engagement in the celebrations of important events within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander calendar, participation in cultural performances; assemblies, conferencing with local elders, and Education officers - Molum Sabe, and the establishment and maintaining of the local environment.

This program also places our students with connections to tertiary institutions, scholarship programs e.g. Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) and other programs enhancing their unique capabilities.

Through authentic relations with the College and parents, the students are encouraged to contribute to the College's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) as well as engage in leadership opportunities through the year. The College provides a positive cultural environment through the delivery of a dynamic curriculum that enhances the knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
