Public Speaking and Debating

Debating

Carmel College Debating promotes and encourages student's public speaking confidence and abilities as well as teaching students how to use verbal persuasive skills. Debating fosters spontaneous, logical thinking while at the same time building on the challenges and strengths of being part of a team. The students who take part in debating acknowledge that the benefits are far-reaching, their thinking skills are enhanced, their negotiation techniques are honed and they write better essays.

With its emphasis on critical thinking, effective communication, and teamwork, public speaking teaches skills that serve individuals well in school, in the workplace, and in their life in the future.

Carmel College has a strong tradition of public speaking with our Middle School and Senior School students participating in Public Speaking Competitions and Debating Competitions each year with great success.
