Middle Years (7 to 9)

In the Middle Years at Carmel College, our learners engage in learning experiences that are relevant and challenging. We recognise that students joining the Carmel College community come from a variety of primary school experiences, and so these early years of high school consist of a consolidation of their previous studies, as well as engaging in new and exciting curriculum areas.

Years 7 to 9 - General Subjects and Applied Subjects

Core Subjects

The following six (6) subjects are compulsory for all Years 7-9 students:

  • Religion
  • English
  • Humanities
  • Health & Physical Education
  • Mathematics:
    • Essential Mathematics or
    • General Mathematics or
    • Mathematic Methods.
  • Science

Elective Subjects

Students will study three (3) electives from the following:

  • Accelerated Science
  • Athletic Development Program
  • Business
  • Design and Technology:
    • Design
    • Engineering and Materials (DTENG) (Graphis)
    • Food Specialisation (DTFS)
    • Materials and Technologies (DTMAT)
  • Drama
  • Dance
  • Japanese
  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • Visual Art
